What's Next?

Well I'm not sure about what I want to do after high school, but I kinda have an idea. I've been looking at collages and kind of getting an idea of where I want to go. I meant someone a few days ago and they talked about Liberty University. Its a huge school, with everything you can think of to do. They have almost any sport you can think of, from MMA (mixed marshal arts) to ice hockey. I have also been thinking about going to San Diego University. It is a smaller school but I went to the school and looked around. The campus is very pretty and I love the San Diego area. Since I only have a few general ideas of what I want to do, I thought that if I go to somewhere where I like the area I can still enjoy being there.

At this point, if I were to go into a field I would want to do something that involves helping people. Weather that's teaching at a school, or working as an interpreter. I have been learning ASL over the past few years, so if I was an interpreter it would be for that. What ASL stands for is American sign language. It is a language using your hands to communicate. In collage I also want to learn how to speak Spanish. I've been taking it I high school but I want to get better and be able to understand it fully. I'm not sure what's going to happen but I'm excited for the future.

Music

I've never been a huge fan of music. I usually will only listen to it if my friends around me are playing it. I do play the violin. I've been playing for about 4 years. I chose to play the violin because I like giving myself a challenge. My favorite song that I've played is Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. Something that's a little different about my personal violin is it's electric, and at first glace you might not know what it is. My violin is in the shape of an S but people have also told me it looks like a dollar sign or a trouble clef. It's also a blue green tint color to it.

My Community

I love the small town that I live in. Here thee are redwood trees, which can grow over two hundred feet tall. There are so many places close to me where my friends and I can go hiking and explore nature. To me, my town is close and old fashion but updated. What I mean by that is every where I usually know someone and I meet someone new. There are people who live here from all around the world, so when I meet new people I sometimes get to learn about their culture or lifestyle.

If I could change something about my community I would have have more to do closer to me. In Fortuna there's a movie theater, a skating rink and two parks. There is community events sometimes, but we don't have a things to do all year long. In Fortuna I wish there was a mall, so my friends and I could walk around and just have fun.

About Me

Hi I'm Lexi. I'm 15 years old. I've grown up in Fortuna my whole life, and I haven't really gone to far from home. But I've always been interested in traveling. I love learning about new cultures and learning about different peoples beliefs. I've always have loved school because I get to learn and meet lots of people along the way. I am a very social person, I can go up and talk to almost anyone. One of my favorite things to do is karate. The style I practice is called Goju Ryu. I've been doing it for about five years and I still have so much to learn. There is never really an end, almost everyday I learn something from one of my katas (forms) that I learned years ago. I think that's the reason I love it so much.

I've always loved helping others. I did Girl Scouts for eight years and I got to help my town become a better place. My troop and I would pick up the trash we found around town, we would help set up community events, and we did a lot more community service. I help out the people at my dojo (karate school) with anything. Weather it was something related to karate, or they had a problem going on at school and didn't know what to do. I am currently learning ASL. ASL is American Sign Language, with this I hope to become an interpreter and help people who need it.
